SCREENINGS OF THE SILENCE

from 2004 to 2011, nearly 200 screenings followed by public debates in France and beyond

2026: this chronology preserves the trace of a public question. What should be done with a technical program that touches questions science cannot answer alone? These debates came before our connected, biometric, predictive present, governed by data.

The chronology begins in Grenoble, with NANO PRAVDA!, a short experimental film assembled from web material and projected during a public meeting on nanotechnologies. That experience confirmed the idea of making the feature documentary largely from computer screen captures.

From 2005 on, The Silence Of The BANGs circulated through cinemas, squats, universities, festivals, media libraries, activist spaces and public debates. The screenings formed another layer of the film: a way to bring into public discussion questions often left to laboratories, industries and expert committees.

The complete screening chronology is kept in French, with dates, places and debate contexts.
